Going shopping in Madrid:
- Calle Goya: what can one say about one of the most important streets in the whole city? Noted for its luxurious jewelry, watches, fashion and leather shops.
- Calle Ortega Y Gasset: the ‘Golden Mile’ in Madrid, this is one of the most expensive streets in Spain where you will find all the most famous names in high fashion: Dolce y Gabbana, Hugo Boss, Cartier etc. They are all here.
- Calle Conde de Peñalver: Famous national names like Zara appear in this wide, celebrated street, as well as more international names like C & A. There is an infinite variety of shops, small and large.
- The Calle de Carmen y Preciados: where the famous store Galerías Preciados used to stand until the 1980s. Today the streets round here offer the best in Spanish and Italian shoe shops. Giant centres such as FNAC and El Corte Inglés are here.
- Calle Gran Vía: here you will find a multitude of different shops, with the emphasis on souvenirs, though several places of quality, such as Zara and others are also to be found here.
- Calle Fuencarral: a fashionable corner of Madrid, in the most literal sense. Here are clothing shops of every type, price and quality. Often the clothes are hand-made. Here the shopping is accompanied by music swelling from shop doorways.
