Summer is the best time for beer. In Madrid, you can enjoy it on many bar terraces but here are some options that go a bit further than just a beer with some crisps.

At El Pedal, on the lively street Calle Argumosa (number 33), very close to the Reina Sofía Museum, they specialise in craft beer of the highest quality, a real pleasure when it gets hot. They have five different taps, whose varieties are combined with different Spanish beers and some excellent German imports. They also have a tapas menu on the side.

Also in Lavapiés you can enjoy the excellent craft beers at San Fernando market. In the stall of La Buena Pinta you can find a large variety of international -it’s also a shop and they sell some cold ones in case you would like to treat yourself or someone else- and Spanish beers, such as Cibeles and Brabante, a local independent company. Growing in popularity, the latter has created its different varieties based on Belgian recipes albeit designed for Spanish tastes.

Going further into Malasaña, Fábrica Maravillas is a must for beer lovers. Brewed right there, you can tell that the beer is 100% craft beer and tasting it makes you feel just like beer drinkers must have felt in the past. It is a modern space that serves beers such as Saison Valverde, which is blonde and fruity; Malasaña Ale, a rye beer; or Imperial Stout, dense and juicy dark beer with twists of caramel, chocolate and coffee.

Still in Malasaña we recommend that you visit Irreale (Calle Manuela Malasaña, 20), a new bar that is 100% dedicated to beer, with up to 12 taps that will no doubt delight all beer lovers. However, they’re not too inclined to offer little free snacks to accompany them or other drinks. It is best if you check it out for yourself.

The craft beer and new breweries route is a special alternative in Madrid’s nightlife. Come and enjoy it when you stay in our 3-star hotel in the center of Madrid.
